Old Lyme, Connecticut
The Community
Boasting large swaths of protected land, Old Lyme is sought after as both a lovely year-round residential area and a summer shoreline retreat.
Located at the confluence of the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound, Old Lyme enjoys a scenic rural atmosphere of beautiful shorefront, wetlands, tidal marsh and treed hills. Its winding roads are lined with architecturally distinctive Colonial and Federal residences. The town’s reputation as an artist community dates back to 1899 with the founding of the Lyme Art Colony by Florence Griswold, whose house today lies at the center of a museum featuring important American Impressionist and other exhibitions as well as educational programs.
